CAMEROON BAPTIST THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY:
AMBASSADORS FOR CHRIST IN AFRICA

www.CBTSAfrica.org
CAMEROON BAPTIST THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY is located in the scenic mountains of the
Northwest Province in the Donga/Mantung Division of Cameroon Africa. We are a
theological institution of the Cameroon Baptist Convention training pastors and
Christian leaders for effective service. As ambassadors for Christ, we are
committed to training for Christian excellence in Africa. We have an enrollment
of 380 students registered in programs ranging from elementary level certificate
to Masters Degree Program.
CBTS has been in the business of training pastors for 59 years. As an
institution of learning she was upgraded in 1984 to grant degrees. We are
placed in the continent of Africa at a time when the HIV/AIDS pandemic and
desperate economic poverty are taking a tool on Africa. We are determined to
educate the population by teaching the pastors and the leaders how to deal with
this terrible disease at the grassroots. Our calling is to the whole person and
we are focusing our attention on the entire developmental process of the
African.
We are working on the
training and education to improve capacity building on our human resources. We
strongly believe that the way forward for the developing world will be by way of
capacity building. Computer education and applied learning will advance the
level of life faster than we can ever get sufficient manpower on site to do the
work. With computers we will be able to extend our personnel to take on more
students and develop more centers of learning across the country of Cameroon.
CBTS SCHOOL LIBRARY:
CBTS has one of the biggest libraries in Africa south of the Sahara. There are
over twenty thousand catalogued books, and a good number of periodicals and
audiovisual materials. Recent publications are continuously being added. There
is an extension project currently going on that will create more books and
study.
BUILDINGS:
We have a classroom complex with over 20 classrooms, a library building, a
chapel, offices for faculty and residences both for students, faculty and staff.
EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY:
The seminary exists to provide biblical, theological, historical, and practical
training in Christian ministry for pastors, missionaries and church planters,
administrators, chaplains, theological teachers and other Christian workers
within the country of Cameroon for Africa. Graduation from this institution
should enable a student to demonstrate growth and development:
1.
SPIRITUALLY, by cultivating a dynamic personal understanding of the
triune God as he relates to daily living. This should be evidenced by an active
commitment to Christ and the administration of his church;
2.
CULTURALLY, by a consistent Christian witness within an African context
in order that the verbal witness of the church will be relevant and effective in
practical social experiences;
3. INTELLECTUALLY,
by a comprehensive understanding of the truth of God revealed in the Scriptures
of living Christian doctrines, and of the illumination given by historical
development within the church;
4. VOCATIONALLY, by
translating intellectual foundations into concrete ministry experiences issuing
in the edification of the body of Christ.
