Christ's Liberty Church of Samobor

From the Life of The Congregation

Our small congregation decided to spend this Easter time together in fellowship. This was an opportunity to get together and through the praise, worship and fellowship to tie our bonds stronger as community. This was also a special occasion, for during this Easter celebration two of our Christian sisters’ husbands (nonbelievers) joined us. Also joining us was a married couple who are very close to a commitment to Christ.

Saturday evening we were together around the campfire and praised the Lord late into the evening. We kept thanking our Lord for His resurrection and victory that He accomplished in our lives.

Easter Sunday was a wonderful blessing for us all. We worshiped, we shared the bread and cup of communion, and we rejoiced in our fellowship in the Lord. We were delighted to know that Jesus Christ brought us together so that we could experience the glory of His resurrection. When it was time came to leave, we all desired to get together for fellowship again in autumn. It is interesting that Bojan was among those who were very enthusiastic about this new way of gathering. He is a professing atheist husband of our sister Boba.

Counseling
Along with the regular activities of the church, Zorica took initiative in leading a counseling ministry. We had four members attending this counseling based on Grace Ministry Service. Day by day we can see for ourselves that there is a great need among believers, just as well as among nonbelievers, for this kind of psychological counseling based on the Word of God.

Counseling Ministry
Zorica joined "Hope for Life" ministry and started several groups of psychological counseling in Samobor and Zagreb. Each week she does counseling with one group in Samobor and two groups in Zagreb. We are convinced more and more that going through these unstable times of crises and recession people are losing their hopes and have been caught in various types of depression. It is sad to see such situations almost in every church. So far Zorica has three groups. There is an interest for such counseling and the interest is rapidly growing among church families as well as among non Christians.

A Testimony

A young Christian mother of two children (age 5, and a baby of 10 months) is fighting against depression, and has for most of her life. After giving birth to her second child, she suffered a hard period of trials. She decided to ask for psychological aid and joined Zorica's group. Recently she testified before all present that all depressions have gone and that she enjoys a wonderful fellowship with the Lord and she is full of love.

We are grateful to the Lord for His wonderful work among all these groups and that a number of attendees can testify of a big change toward a better life. Thanks to the Lord's healing power they have been freed from all fears and depressions and they now have a new look at their heavenly Father who accepts them and cares with an unconditional love.

We see a great need to open an office in the capital Zagreb for this ministry. Many churches in Zagreb show their interest for having such a ministry.

       Children Ministry

Our well attended Kid's Club meets every Saturday. More and more we feel enthusiasm around these meetings. We are making more and more friendships with parents (not yet Christians) of the children that addend these meetings.

The Ladies' Meetings

Our Ladies' Bible Sessions, were well attended. Our Christian sisters study the women characters in the Bible, learn how to live a Christian life through these Bible examples, and observe how they can face every day's trials and hardships with the Lord.

Benevolence Ministry

We continue with monthly visits to the older disabled people in surrounding villages. During Easter week in addition to our regular packages of food we added ham (traditional Easter food in this area) and cakes.

We were very sad to find an older man, whose wife had died just before we came. Then we found out that an older woman, very sick, ended up in a hospital. We are grateful to the Lord that we made good friendships with them and that we had opportunity to share the Good News of Salvation. Some of them prayed with us a prayer of commitment. We are deeply convinced that our Lord is sending us to this mission field. The benevolence ministry gives us a good opportunity for us to share His Word and the message of salvation.

Last month we bought some vegetable seeds to distribute to those we visit for planting in their modest home gardens. This month they shared with us in a great joy that some seeds started to grow and sprout. This will help them to supply some needed food without cost.

During our last visit, we happened to see some of our older ladies living on the foothills of Zumberak diligently working in their gardens preparing soil for sowing. Two of them, whose picture we included are over eighty years of age.

Ana is age 88, and still very active in her garden work. They were happy to have good weather for sowing seeds. They are grateful to God for having strength to do the work so that they may have something to eat such as vegetables during the summer months.

Radio Ministry

In addition to daily airing of three minute messages, this April you can also hear 15 minute radio sermons on Samobor Radio. Samobor is the only city where the radio airs Gospel programs everyday. At the beginning of this month a yearly contract was signed for weekly airing of the radio sermons "Valley of Blessings" Radio ministry "Valley of Blessings" will be organized in our church facility as a special outreach, where all listeners will be invited to attend this outreach. Bob and Carra Perkins will be speakers for this radio evangelism.
