Our Story

Feed My Sheep: Called to Serve in Grand Portage, MN

In the summer of 2011, I had just finished my freshman year of high school, which meant I was finally able to go on one of the high school outreach trips. This was no small thing to me. My older sister had shared stories about how special Grand Portage was, and I had been looking forward to seeing it for myself.

I’ll never forget arriving at the top of the final hill as we entered the reservation, where the well-known Grand Portage Trading Post Sign stands. My heart was expectant for what God was going to do that week. Since then, after my first experience in the Grand Portage community, I’ve stayed connected to and invested in the work the McCormick family has been doing among the Ojibwe people of Grand Portage through Mt. Rose Community Church.

Over the past five-plus years, I’ve spent intentional time praying about stepping into full-time ministry on the reservation. This hasn’t been a quick decision; it’s come through years of process, growth, and a deepening conviction about the importance of diversity in the Kingdom of God.

I believe native men and women play a vital role in carrying the gospel across the United States and the world. Their testimonies of stories of hope found in Christ are powerful.

Through the combination of my history in Grand Portage and my diverse experiences in ministry, I am stepping forward in faith for this next season of my own transformational journey with Jesus.

Our Impact

As I step into this next season of full-time ministry in Grand Portage, my heart is to invest deeply in people and build lasting relationships through discipleship, and be a consistent presence in the community.

One of the primary ways I’ll be doing this is by partnering with Jake McCormick in the vibrant youth ministry at Mt. Rose Community Church. This has already proven to be an impactful ministry, and I’m excited to come alongside it through discipling young women, attending conferences and retreats together, and creating intentional, joy-filled environments where students can experience both community and the truth of the gospel. My goal isn’t to just create more “programs” but to walk with these students over time and build kingdom-minded relationships that truly have eternal impacts.

I’m also prayerfully stepping into women’s ministry. My desire is to create a steady rhythm of gathering and create spaces where women can come together to study scripture, pray, and share life. I aim to foster relationships that will help grow deeper roots in faith together.

This type of ministry is not easily done bi-vocationally; while that is an option, bi-vocational ministry poses its own difficulties and challenges. Navigating challenging schedules can take away from the ministry's impact.

Your partnership, whether through prayer, encouragement, or financial support, will help give me the flexibility to partner with the McCormick family and serve the church and community.

Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap steadfast love; break up your fallow ground, for it is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and rain righteousness upon you.
