Our Story

The story of Metanoia Missions & Ministries (M3) began in 2017, when Trey Campbell was asked to bring a team to Nicaragua, where a friend, Claire Green, was serving as a missionary. A team was put together. While the organization seemed great, having not been there, Trey wanted to make sure the team members had a spirit-filled experience. He put together a devotion to be used at night to break down the day, explore faith, and share experiences and testimonies. It turned out, the organization was fantastic! This led to the dual nature of short-term missions that makes Metanoia unique. By day: service to others and the community. By night: a focused approach to personal and spiritual growth.

Important to the M3 story and a precursor to the original 2017 mission trip, starting from 2011 to the present, several cofounders of M3 have set up and led numerous large-scale service projects involving 150-350 college students. These service projects have taken place annually throughout Mexico and in Dominican Republic with Southwestern Advantage. Some of the many undertakings have included building community centers, adding additional floors to schools and safe shelters to increase the number of children who can be helped and educated, building houses for at-risk families, and building a library wing for children and special-needs children, just to name a few.

The small but mighty team with Metanoia has over 100 combined short-term mission trips and large-scale service projects between them.

Mission: To help others seek spiritual growth, change lives, honor God, serve humanity, and provide hope through international and domestic short-term experiences and long-term support.

Our Impact

Our purpose is to be of service to those who are oppressed, poverty-stricken, and problem-stricken. We seek to build a spiritual foundation for all who attend and be obedient to our calling through the Great Commission, as found in Matthew 28:18-20.

Love is a universal language. We’ve seen first-hand what a huge difference can be made in a short time. The gift of hope and a show of faith can never be underestimated. In cooperation with our on-the-ground, local mission partners, a short-term experience is helpful for those in need and impactful to all parties. Growth is never anywhere to be found in a comfort zone. The Metanoia missions experience is designed to be relational and spiritual. Each team member has their own unique experience. For some, it will be building a foundation of faith. For others, it may be spiritual healing and forgiveness (of self or others). And yet, for others, it may be an unexpected change in heart and perspective. This experience is dual-natured: service to the community and individuals, and personal spiritual growth.

Expanding the reach of our mission trips, we are committed to continuing the work that has begun. By investing in year-round programs, we meet identified needs and strengthen communities for lasting transformation.

Your donation provides vital services to individuals, families, and vulnerable communities for sustainable, long-term impact.

"Seeing life through the eyes of others in different situations in another place opens both the eyes and the spirit. Transformational life change and spiritual growth go hand-in-hand. This is done through cultural awareness, personal and spiritual development, and life-changing, long-term impact."

— Trey Campbell, Co-founder of M3
