A Bridge for Cultural Exchange

Our Story

Transformation in North Africa via Cooking and Culture (TNACC) was founded out of the desire to bring ministry into our business setting. Our project brings together locally-led cooking classes with the goal of transforming each guest who enters our doors. And what we’ve seen is that, as good as our food is, the exchanges with our team are even better! For example, we’ve become perhaps the only reliable setting in our city for interfaith dialogue with Muslim women. In general, women are underrepresented in the job market. Hiring women to fulfill jobs has become a pillar of our mission.

At the heart of all this is God’s call to bless the nations through a multi-pronged approach to transformation - social, spiritual, and economic.

Our Impact

Vision

Restoring the world via cooking and culture.

Mission

Creating opportunities for visitors to engage North Africans in their context, hearing their story in authentic exchanges over food and tea.

Ministry Goals

Woman serving tea.
  • Providing jobs in our city, averaging 2 new jobs every year;
  • Meeting weekly one-on-one with team members over tea to discuss personal and occupational highs and lows;
  • Leading a Bible study for those on the Team interested in studying Jesus and His teachings;
  • Leading staff-wide events focusing on honoring every position in the business, re-creating with each other, and upgrading;
  • Serving our city as a team through community service every quarter;
  • Providing daily a setting for exchanges that help the Westerner value Muslims as people, including a space for interfaith dialogue;
  • Modeling and articulating ethical standards based on the New Testament and Torah, clearly outlining the owner’s allegiance to Jesus as well as his spouse’s;
  • Hiring of women recommended by local church leaders, providing real discipleship opportunities in a business centered on Jesus;
  • Making the most of opportunities to point to Jesus when asked about the idea behind the project;
  • Investing in the long-term professional aims of our female team along with other social business goals;
  • Paying our employees a fair wage, including state benefits for the core team, and always on time (we have not missed a payday since 2018);
  • Practicing in radical fashion, peacemaking and intentional acts of grace, helping foster a culture where every relationship is valued and where respect and love are felt.

What shall I return to the Lord for all His goodness to me?
I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord.
