GOAL: Raise $8,000

100% of the funds raised by the JAM Run 2023 will go to support four GHI projects, focusing on mentoring youth and families.

Our selected projects are operating in countries with high rates of poverty. The funds raised will reach many lives, who would not otherwise have access to these services.

Mentor - JAM 2023 photo of classroom

Mentor A Mentor - Latin America

Mentor A Mentor has been serving at-risk children in Mexico and is now expanding to Colombia. The community of Floridablanca, Colombia is challenged with limited opportunities for adolescents, leading to drug use, prostitution, and violence.

In an effort to break this cycle, Mentor A Mentor is teaming up with Fundación Niños de Paza, a local Christian organization, to provide at-risk youth with 6 months of martial arts and robotics classes, training for the teacher-mentors, and the purchase of equipment. The equipment purchases will allow Mentor A Mentor to continue martial arts and robotics classes into the future. The teacher training will equip mentors to impart Christian values, creating lasting, transformative effects on the lives they touch.

Goal = $2,000

C4DMU - JAM 2023 collecting water

Care 4 Destitute Ministries Uganda

C4DMU provides basic education for children whose families cannot afford school fees as well as micro-business and job training for older youth and adults. Their mission is to empower individuals and families to grow together in the communion of God.

They work with schools and churches in two impoverished communities in eastern Uganda (Kamuli Balawoli) and central Uganda (Mukono Kabembe). However, the communities where their schools reside are lacking access to clean water.

Every day in Uganda 33 children die as a result of illnesses contracted by drinking contaminated water. C4DMU is determined to make access to clean water an immediate priority and is raising funds to construct two wells.

Goal: $2,000 (toward $20,000 needed for 2 wells)

Be With - JAM 2023 photo basketball camp

Be With - Paraguay

Be With is investing in youth and the community in Paraguay, by modeling a relationship with Jesus, full of love and grace. They lead spiritual direction activities at the local school and host youth basketball camps in the community.

Update: programming change
The community basketball camp that was planned for December ran into some roadblocks and cannot continue. After prayerful consideration, the Be With team will be leading and pouring their resources into the local school’s Christian youth group, Refuel. The group will meet Friday nights throughout the school year, with a worship service led by students. Be With is planning to invest in the student leaders by inviting them on a retreat, hosting a program of devotions, and meeting with students one-on-one. The team believes that God is using this group in a powerful way to bring influence and healing to the school community.

Goal = $2,200

FLTC - JAM 2023 split photo for web

Full Life Training Center - Nepal

Full Life Training Center, a program of the Grace Community Church in Nepal, mentors families who are not able to find a means to support themselves. They provide vocational training and start-up materials for micro-businesses and also invest in the education of youth for families unable to afford school fees due to parental death, illness, or economic hardship.

FLTC is dedicated to these immediate needs:

  • One year of education fees for a child age 5 ($181).
  • One year of education fees for a child age 9 ($181).
  • Two years of secondary education fees for a 17-year-old who plans to become a Christian teacher ($490).
  • Purchase of a hand tractor for agricultural work for a 17-year-old who has become the sole provider for his family ($454).

In addition to supporting youth, FLTC is building a community center, with the next step of adding a roof ($691).

Goal = $1,997
