Our Story
In Asia, fewer than 2% of the population is Christian.
With this vast opportunity to share the gospel we started sending student missionary interns from Baptist Theological College in Cebu, Philippines to Thailand. Their experiences were so positive that our students sought an avenue to return for long-term ministry. This was the beginning of a commitment to fulfill the Great Commission of reaching unreached peoples in Asia.
Bethlehem Star of Peace (BSOP) was founded within the Philippines to send missionary fieldworkers to Asia. BSOP has existed as a legally incorporated nonprofit organization in the Philippines for the past 20 years.
Mission: "BSOP sends highly equipped Filipinos, shining like stars as global workers to Asia's unreached peoples, introducing them to the Prince of Peace."
Our Impact
As missionaries, our work within the community takes various forms:
- Teaching conversational English classes
- Mentoring girls and women who have been rescued from trafficking
- Teaching moral values in a prison
- Mentoring children, youth, and families
- Teaching and preaching
Whatever challenge we take on or service we provide, it is infused with the gospel.
The goal is that all of our ministry services will lead to starting and strengthening churches.
As an organization, BSOP provides our fieldworkers with missionary care including planning, accountability, encouragement, and respite. We desire to see each fieldworker adequately resourced and well cared for emotionally, spiritually, and physically. Caring for the needs of our missionaries, will in turn lead to numerical and qualitative growth and spiritual maturity of the newly started churches in Thailand and Cambodia.
We currently have 15 fieldworkers serving in SE Asia.
How You Can Help
We invite individuals, churches, and groups to join us in partnership and support as we spread the gospel through the creation of new church plants and strengthen newly formed churches in SE Asia, among unreached peoples.
