Oasis Farms
Empowering Youth in Kitwe, Zambia

Our Story
In 2001, Drs. Kautemba and Antoinette Phiri founded Oasis Medical Clinic, not only to care for physical needs but also to fulfill a broader mission of spiritual growth by planting churches. A home church has been established in Zambia’s central business district, along with 4 church branches.
As part of a growing commitment to empower young people, the church started a youth employment initiative. The Phiris’ daughter, Tehilah Phiri, created a vocational training curriculum which led to the launch of a youth-run restaurant.
This project led to a desire to expand and focus more intentionally on Zambia’s street children—many of whom are orphans or sent by their families to beg. These youth often live on the streets, disconnected from education and driven by survival.
Out of this, a greater vision took shape, one that went beyond helping them find a job to helping young people discover their God-given identity and purpose. Oasis Farms was envisioned to accomplish both of those goals. With Zambia’s fertile land and reliable rainfall, the land offers great potential not just in crops but in cultivating lives.
Vision: to ignite street youth to recognize their God-given purpose and become contributors to their communities.
Our Impact
Oasis Farms’ mission is to create employment through agriculture, imparting knowledge and skills to underprivileged young people so they can create sustainable food sources for themselves and their families
Farm development planned outcomes:
- Location on the outskirts of town
- Free training programs for street youth and underserved families
- Teach sustainable skills in agriculture and carpentry
- Mentoring model to build confidence
- Discipleship to teach biblical values and cultivate purpose in Christ
- Students turn learning into action by growing their own vegetables at home
- Homeless youth encouraged to join youth cooperative groups to grow food and create small-scale economic opportunities
Long-term vision:
- Purchasing land to develop a retreat and training center.
- Launching agricultural research to determine the most effective crops.
- Building infrastructure to scale the program across local churches.
Oasis Farms is redefining success for Zambia’s youth—not just employment, but empowerment rooted in faith, purpose, and self-sufficiency.

Youth Outreach
In collaboration with our home church, we have been reaching out to youth on the streets with encouragement, food, clothing, and the hope of Christ.
Your donation offers empowerment and spiritual formation in youth.
"Poverty was never God's intention. God has designed it that man eats from that which nature provides. So, combining feeding the church with the word of God, encouraging them to read the word for themselves, and teaching them how to grow their own food and feed their stomachs are the ways in which we want to combine the gospel with 'feeding the hungry'." - Tehilah Phiri
