When Gerardo “Boyet” and Daryl Lisbe were college students, both completed one-year missionary internships in Thailand. After college graduation they were married and served a local church in Cebu City, Philippines, for a decade. Then God called them to serve at Baptist Theological College. Daryl is adjunct faculty; Boyet is professor and Dean of the Graduate School. In addition to their church and school ministries, both have been on the Leadership Team of Bethlehem Star of Peace (BSOP) since its beginning--Boyet was President of BSOP from 2002-2020. They have travelled to Thailand and Cambodia many times in the past two decades to encourage and mentor BSOP fieldworkers there.

However, in the past two or three years they have heard God telling them this was the time He wanted them to return to Thailand for full-time ministry. They are being appointed by BSOP to join the team of fieldworkers in Bangkok. The goal of BSOP is to have them deployed by the end of 2024!

Are they leaving everything they have accomplished in the Philippines behind?  No. In many ways they are taking all the skills and lessons God has developed in them and moving their family to Thailand to “shine” for Jesus and build God’s kingdom.

Boyet, Daryl, Thia, and Samuel will depart for Thailand as soon as they have a strong support team who will be prayer warriors for them and give financially for their needs.

What will they do?
The whole family will learn Thai language and culture. Dr. Lisbe will continue to train leaders. He can help ministry training schools in Thailand. Daryl will continue to mentor young mothers and train teachers. But most of all, the Lisbe family will use their gifts of hospitality, evangelism, and discipleship to introduce Thai people to Jesus, guide them in following Him, and build lifelong disciples in Thai cell churches.
