GHI Fall Newsletter 2023 – The Power of God

The Power of God in Kenya!

Rev. Professor Colin Miller serves on the GHI board of directors and traveled to Kenya in July. Here is Colin’s recollection of his travels:

Our mission in Nairobi, Kenya was a profound testament to the transformative power of faith. We were warmly embraced by Dr. Tom Chore, leader of Hope Academy, and the resilient Hope Restoration Church, operating amidst political unrest. We held our “Soaring to New Dimensions in Ministry” workshop and continued with revival services where we witnessed spiritual deliverance, with five souls getting saved.

Despite continuing protests in the area, we conducted a training session for local pastors. It was amazing to hear that those we had just trained hours earlier went out and applied the new teaching that evening, leading to the salvation of 16 more souls.

We spent the following day at Hope Academy where we presented the school with two GHI Knowledge Boxes (low-cost computer devices developed by GHI), enhancing their educational resources.

The next stop was Kisumu, Kenya. We were warmly greeted by Rev. Domnic Misolo, Director of IFAGE. We conducted training sessions for faith leaders tackling crucial topics such as “Masculinity and Gender-Based Violence Training” and “Biblical Equality and Gender Reconciliation Training.

At the Institute for Faith and Gender Empowerment (IFAGE office), we met their passionate team to offer encouragement and gifted them with two GHI Knowledge Boxes.

A final visit to Lake Victoria offered a glimpse into the vibrant local culture. As we concluded our mission, our hearts were filled with gratitude for Bishop Akello, Pastor Okoth, and the Misolo family’s hospitality.

Our time in Kenya stood as a testament to God’s power, love, and compassion. Forever grateful to Herb and Daan Klem  and the Global Horizons Inc. team for the privilege and opportunity.
