GHI Summer Newsletter 2022 – See what’s new!

New things are happening at GHI!

We have several new GHI partner projects, a new face in leadership, and our 3rd annual JAM Run is open for registration.

We have been seeing a rise in the number of fiscal sponsorship inquiries this year, which is exciting. God is on the move!

New Interim President and CEO Daan Klem

This past spring Daan Klem accepted the position as GHI President and CEO, formerly held by Dr. Leon Rodrigues. Leon was offered a leadership role as Vice President and Dean of Students at Luther Seminary and decided to step down from his role at GHI, but will remain serving on our board of directors. While we will miss working with Leon, we are happy for him as he steps into new experiences and opportunities.

Daan brings foundational knowledge to this role as the son of GHI co-founder Dr. Herb Klem. He has served on the GHI board for the past two years and leads the Knowledge Box technology initiative. Having started a project himself, Daan is familiar with the challenges and rewards of leading a mission project.

We are excited to work with Daan and to see the passion and energy he brings to GHI.

Put on your running shoes and join us on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022 at 10 AM, at Lake Phalen Pavilion in St. Paul.

There will be games, ethnic food, and an ethnic art sale.

Our goal is to raise $8,000.

This year we have chosen to highlight 4 children’s ministry projects needs:

  • Adulam Ministries (Mexico) – staff salaries to operate their children’s home
  • IFAGE (Kenya) – education programs for pregnant teens to stop the cycle of poverty
  • Youngsters for Christ Team (Kenya) – shoes for 70 children in an area called Kibera slum
  • Cornerstone Academy (India) – playground equipment for a Christian school

100% of the donations will go directly toward children and youth at risk in Mexico, Kenya, and India.

We hope to see you there!

Update from our Ukraine Fundraiser

Thank you to everyone who donated to support the fundraiser for Ukraine back in March.

Our partner project Zagreb Baptist Church in Croatia, led by Pastor Mihal Kreko, stepped up immediately to support families affected by war. Mihal and his team of volunteers continue to provide food, clothes, hygiene supplies, and tools to refugees and those who remain in Ukraine.

Recently they were able to equip some of the firefighters and construction workers in Ukraine with proper protective gear and equipment to begin the rebuilding process.

If you’d like to help, you can make a donation to GHI project Zagreb Baptist Church: https://globalhz.org/zagreb-baptist-church/
